Miscellaneous mapping

  • Cross-country passes: a caltopo.com map someone made based on the entries in the High Sierra Topix map.
  • Current and historical USGS maps using topoView.
  • Corps of Discovery Expedition (AKA the Lewis & Clark Expedition) map. See the base page for more information. In a nutshell, the map "represents the official National Park Service centerline of the historic route of the Lewis and Clark National Historic Trail. As of 2017, this feature class represents the National Park Service's best approximation of the historic route of the Lewis and Clark Expedition of 1804-1806."

Routes

  • Red Slate Mountain via the northwest face: as skied (GPX) and as mapped beforehand (caltopo). Note: there's an obvious GPS error midway on the approach, and the track came too high on the ridge while approaching Lake Wit-So-Nah-Pah. Trip report here.
